    9 strikes = 203?

    Wednesday, August 13, 2008, 02:41 PM [General]

The title of this blog post is true.  I bowled 9 strikes in one game that added up to a 203 game.  The reason because of this is I rolled 3 splits and didn't convert on any of them.  I even rolled two of the splits back to back.  It was a site to be seen.

Tom Dolan on the other hand rolled a career high for 4 game series in a league with an 815 scratch.  With a High game of 218.  He started bowling with his Storm Special agent but had to switch to a much less aggressive ball.  He went with his Storm Jolt particle and stuck with it after bowling his high game.  He was destroying the pins last nite.  Great pin action as well from the Storm Jolt particle that was drilled to go long and snap at the back end.  The ball was drilled and mapped out by Tony Colatruglio at www.bigdaddysproshop.com

We won the nite with 15-5 points.  I only lost one point to my opponent.  I rolled a high game of 230 with a series of 803 scratch.  I rolled my Favorite ball right now my T-Road Pearl by Storm.  I  ( Brent Dolan ) actually changed my style last nite.  I changed my hand possition on the ball so it would give me a little more side rotation on the back end.  It worked well.  I was having a bit of trouble because it was new to me but felt good and had a hand full of hambones last nite.

So it was a great night of team bowling last nite.  We also bowled a team handicap game of 542 that should get us in the top three scores for the week.  Along with our 1994 handicap series as well.

Hopefully we can carry out this success for the last two weeks and finish in the top 15 out of 55 teams.

    Johnny Patraglia Jr. 300 game

    Monday, August 11, 2008, 08:53 AM [General]

Walked in to Carolier and found they were running the summer classic tournament The 2:30 start had taken the 1st 26 lanes ( apparently a 2 day event finishing Sunday). I moved down to lane 45 for practice . I couldn't get a league style set up .I did finish up with my new Storm Secret Agent ball and had 7 X in a row then choked and finished with a 247( not too bad)

I packed up and on the way out I stopped to  spectate at the tourny bowlers . By dumb luck I stood behind a young guy who was up and I noticed he had 6 x in a row so I stayed . He didn't choke. He was a lefty throwing a big hook from inside the 4 board to the solid pocket. I watched him throw 7, 8, 9, 10,11 and finally 12 in a row for a perfect game. I waited to hear his name announced. A familiar name it was in a famliy way: Johnny Patraglia Jr. Nice going Jr.

    My Theory is Confirmed

    Wednesday, August 6, 2008, 09:02 AM [General]

I stated last week that if Tom Dolan doesn't win all of our point we loose.  Well this week cofirms that.  It was a struggle for both myself and Tom.  The lanes where bone dry from the gutter to about the 17th board for a right hander.  Everything in our bags where over hooking our normal shots.  I was playing pretty deep for me rolling it out to the 35th board and swinging it out to the 10 board.  But it just wasn't working for me.  Tom struggle rolling it straight up the 5th board.

After 3 out of 4 game we where down 11 to 1.  We both had a look of despair on our faces.  But I looked at Tom and Said "lets pick up our speed and throw it as hard as we can up the 5th board.  Well that "Never Say Die" attitude (we seem to always) have got us a to win the last game.  We lost the night 15-5.

Tom Dolan even bowled a 214 in his last game (with handicap it was a 261) but the guy he was bowling went the strike on the front 7 and finished up with a 246 winning by 8 pins.  Tom rolled ever ball in his bag but finished his high game for the night with his Storm Special Agent

Myself Brent Dolan took 4 of the 5 points but I didn't bowl spectacular by any means.  I rolled my polished up The Cell by Roto Grip ball but it was just way to dry in the back ends for me to be consistant with it.   I even pulled out the Storm Secret Agent last nite.  The Storm Secret Agent just doesn't do anything for me.  I think my highest game with it is only a 190.

It just isn't tailored to my game.  I am even thinking of selling it on Ebay.com soon or if anyone is interested in it contact me @ brent@brentdolanmedia.com  The ball is practicly brand new and hardly has any game on it.  I probably haven't given this ball a chance but you know how it is when you just don't feel confident in your equipment.  I have to say the ball smells very nice just doesn't work for me.

My last game I only shot a 201 but it was good enough to win.  I of course went to my go to bowling ball the Storm T Road Pearl and basicly threw it down the alley.  I figured this morning I would be in a lot more pain then I am in.  But luckly I feel pretty good.

The highlight of the whole night was that we didn't quit and battled back with a team doubles score of 508 which gave us the win in the last game by 28 pins.  Hopefully next week we will get back to bowling better or at least have the lanes back to how they usually are.

    won 12 1/2 by 7 1/2

    Wednesday, July 30, 2008, 11:13 PM [General]

Yeah Strange but true another wierd score from the Dolan Team.  Win is a win but these scores lately are just rediculous.  We have tied 10 points to 10 points 3 times.  Two of those ties where back to back.  We also have another 1/2 point to our season and now another one to make us even.  Plus we been bowling on lane 13 each time we bowl these scores.

Ok that last sentence is a complete lie.  I was just looking for some sort of explination for all this.  Well last week it was my week to shine.  This week it was all Tom Dolan.  He rolled a fantastic 4 games and only gave away 1 point the whole night.  He was 3 pins away from an 800 series. (for those of you that can't figure that out that comes out to 797).  He rolled his brand new Special Agent by Storm, then the Track The Rising ball,  Then the Jolt Particle by Storm and then to top it all off back to the old Special agent by Storm.  Yes it is true he used every ball he had in his bag.  Including his spare ball an ebonite captain midnight.  Tom might be on to something.

My ( Brent Dolan) only highlight this week is I rolled a 244 and with all those pins I got because my average dropped like and ancor the last few weeks.  I got the third highest handicap game for the week.  I think there is a total of 106 bowlers in our doubles  league.  With the Handicap It came out to 290.   I had 8 strikes total and 3 spares for a clean game of 244.  I rolled my favorite ball in my bag the T Road Pearl by Storm. for spares and strikes.

I have also come to the conclusion when I bowl well we loose.  If Tom Dolan bowls well we win.  Good thing I have learned my lesson in humility years ago.  I am willing to put my ego aside and hope Tom Dolan from this point on in the league wins all of our points.  It is our only hope on finishing in the top 10.
